Winston Suspension Increased
Citing results of a "continuing investigation" into an incident Tuesday, Florida State has suspended quarterback Jameis Winston for Saturday's entire game against Clemson, the school announced late Friday night. The one-sentence statement, which was e-mailed at 11:07 p.m. Eastern time, was signed by interim president Garnett Stokes and athletics director Stan Wilcox. Football coach Jimbo Fisher's name was nowhere to be found. Originally, Florida State decided to suspend Winston, last year's Heisman Trophy winner, only for the first half Saturday following reports that he had stood on a table Tuesday and shouted a vulgar phrase at the student union, mimicking an Internet meme making the rounds on college campuses. Deadspin was the first to report the incident, citing several Tweets from witnesses. This was merely the latest in a string of incidents involving Winston, who was accused of sexual assault last year. Winston, who led Florida State to the national title, was never charged with a crime, but the stain on his reputation greatly increased the scrutiny on his off-field behavior. Florida State, which is under investigation by the Federal government over whether it violated Title IX in its handling of the sexual assault allegations, also is investigating whether Winston violated the school's code of conduct. In April, Winston was accused of stealing $32.72 worth of crab legs from a local grocery store and was given a civil citation. Winston performed community service in lieu of criminal charges and was suspended by the baseball team for three games. There was no indication Friday night that the increased suspension was related to anything other than Tuesday's incident on Florida State's campus. Florida State backup Sean Maguire, a redshirt sophomore who has thrown 26 passes in his career, will start for the No. 1-ranked Seminoles in Winston's place. This development obviously changes the dynamic for No. 24 Clemson, which began the week as a three-touchdown underdog according to Las Vegas oddsmakers, and potentially Florida State's chances of making the first College Football Playoff.

Earlier this week, August Alsina collapsed on stage during a show in NYC. Today, the singer shared his first message since the incident, revealing that he has been in a coma for three days and had just woken up. August didn't reveal what caused him to collapse, but TMZ had reported after the incident that he was suffering from dehydration and exhaustion, but no drugs other than marijuana were found in his system. August is currently scheduled to hit the road with Usher for the "UR Experience" tour, though it's not yet known if that is still the plan with August's current health situation. We will continue to update this story when more details are made available.

They Knew!!
Just hours after NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell admitted, again, that the league failed in its handling of the Ray Rice domestic violence case, a damning report from ESPN's "Outside The Lines" claimed the Baltimore Ravens were guilty of "purposeful misdirection" in their own handling of the matter. In a comprehensive account of the seven-month Rice scandal built upon information from more than 20 unnamed sources, ESPN's Don Van Natta Jr. and Kevin Van Valkenburg reported that Baltimore Ravens director of security Darren Sanders received a complete account of Rice punching his then-fiancee in the elevator of a casino in Atlantic City, N.J., within hours of the incident taking place in February. According to the "OTL" report, Sanders was fully informed over the telephone of what transpired in the elevator by an Atlantic City police officer who was viewing the surveillance footage. Sanders reportedly then shared the information with team executives. When contacted by the Baltimore Sun, Sanders declined to comment on the story. In a statement, the Ravens disputed the accuracy of the "OTL" report. The explicit video from inside the elevator was not seen by the public until Sept. 8, when it was released by TMZ. At that point, the Ravens terminated Rice's contract. The NFL had levied a two-game suspension in July, but that punishment was upgraded to an indefinite ban after the elevator video was released. In his public comments on the punishment, Goodell has insisted that NFL did not have access to the elevator video until TMZ made it public and that Rice's own account of the incident had been "ambiguous." Both assertions have been called into doubt by subsequent reports from The Associated Press and ESPN. "I got it wrong in the handling of the Ray Rice matter, and I'm sorry for that," Goodell told reporters on Friday during a press conference. "But now I will get it right." In July, Ravens General Manager Ozzie Newsome stated publicly that he believed Goodell had gotten it right with just a two-game suspension. “While not having Ray for the first two games is significant to our team, we respect the league’s decision and believe it is fair,” Newsome said in a statement released by the team. According to Van Natta Jr. and Van Valkenburg, Newsome made that statement after having been told the full details of what transpired in the elevator in Atlantic City. Shortly before "Outside The Lines" published its account of the Ravens' handling of the case, team officials may have convened an "emergency meeting" to discuss the report, according to ProFootballTalk. "Some claim that the looming report has sparked an 'emergency meeting' in the Ravens’ front office. It’s our understanding that a meeting already had been scheduled, and that the emergence of concern regarding an upcoming report about the situation was coincidental," reported Mike Florio of PFT on Friday afternoon. "Either way, it appears that more will soon be known about the Ravens’ role in whatever did and didn’t happen, and whatever anyone knew or didn’t know about the situation."
ISIS Hostages Freed
Dozens of Turkish hostages abducted by Islamist militants in northern Iraq were freed Saturday after three months in captivity. Militants from the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria raided the Turkish consulate in June and seized 49 people, including Consul General Ozturk Yilmaz. Others abducted included his family, children and other citizens who were at the consulate in Mosul at the time, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said. ISIS consolidating control of Mosul Of the total, three were local employees and 46 were Turkish citizens. All were freed and the latter are now in their home country, Turkish authorities said. t's unclear how they were freed, but Erdogan thanked Turkish intelligence officials in a statement on his website. "I thank ... every single member of the national intelligence agency from the director to the field operatives," he said. "I congratulate them for their big success from the bottom of my heart." Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu described it as a late-night operation. "At around 11:30 at night, this rescue effort reached its final stage," he told a crowd waving flags in Ankara. "Be assured that for months we worked toward this. I thank those in our national intelligence agency who worked relentlessly and with great sacrifice." Mosul, a city of 1.6 million, collapsed swiftly when the militants attacked on June 10. The heavily armed radicals overran police stations, freed more than 1,000 prisoners from the local jail and took over the international airport. American-trained Iraqi forces ran in the face of the onslaught, leaving behind uniforms, weapons and armored vehicles. ISIS, which calls itself the Islamic State, has declared that it has established a "caliphate" spanning large swaths of Iraq and Syria. Turkey has been wary of joining a U.S. coalition to battle the militants because of the hostages, according to Faysal Itani, a fellow at the Atlantic Council's Center for the Middle East.
