Bitcoin Crashes Below $300
What goes up—for reasons no one can quite fully understand or articulate—must come down. Bitcoin dipped below a $300 average price on Sunday for the first time in a full year. The new price woes mark a low point for a currency whose cheerleaders once talked seriously about a $10,000 Bitcoin. This week's Bitcoin dip marks the lowest price since the immediate aftermath of the 2013 Silk Road bust. Ever since Ross Ulbricht was arrested as the alleged leader of the Silk Road black market one year ago, the price of Bitcoin has been on a wild ride. The day of Ulbricht’s arrest, you could buy a Bitcoin for $130. Two months later, the price sat at over $1,200. Now, 12 months later, the currency sits at around $325 and prices are creeping toward pre-Silk Road bust levels. Many of those invested have expressed profound frustration. “Fuck you and everything that walks,” one person wrote as the price fluctuated rapidly over the weekend. “I never win. Hundreds down the shitter. Fuck me and my cock sucking decisions. Fuck Bitcoin.” Others, however, see the drop in Bitcoin's price as the perfect time to buy—or at least to get a jolt of adrenaline. "Strap yourselves in," another user wrote, "we're in for one hell of a ride." The past year has been full of good and bad news for the cryptocurrency. Major companies like Dell, Overstock, and PayPal now accept payments in Bitcoin. Meanwhile, major countries have begun to reign in the cryptocurrency free-for-all: Russia may ban it, for instance, and the U.S. is poised to regulate it. The single biggest crash in Bitcoin’s history came in Dec. 2013, when China, long a beacon of hope and potential to Bitcoin-enthusiasts, banned financial institutions from trading, insuring, or offering any Bitcoin services. Prices sank from $1,025 to $650 in a single day. The price bounced dizzyingly over the next month before hitting Bitcoin’s second worst crash: Feb. 2014, where the price fell from $828 to $550, more than halving where the currency had been just 60 days prior. From there, the price finally settled into a slow descent that’s lasted all of 2014. Now, the descent is speeding up. Bitcoin started Sept. with a $487 pricetag per bitcoin and continues today with a $325 price tag, a more than 35 percent drop in price, making it the worst month since March 2014 and the third worst month in Bitcoin history by many measures. Despite how many soothsayers have been attracted to Bitcoin, there’s no predicting where Satoshi Nakamoto’s gift will go next.

'The LeBrons' Returns for Season 3
The LeBrons, the webseries created by basketball superstar LeBron James, returned for its third season this month. Three new episodes are already released. The LeBrons follows four characters, each a subset of James’s personality—the Kid, the Athlete, the Businessman (voiced by James himself), and Wise, the elder statesman. The series originated as a tie-in to a sneaker commercial in 2011, and transitioned from a handdrawn style in season 1 to a computer-generated Sims-esque style in seasons 2 and 3. In the first three episodes of the new season, the LeBrons clean up the local junkyard only to reveal that a real estate company is looking to turn the space into condos, use their connections to get into the “big game,” and deal with social media foibles and the consequences of viral YouTube videos. While thes series mostly focuses on Kid, his group of friends, and his interactions with Wise, Athlete and Business are both comic relief, with Athlete practicing yoga until a paddleball distracts him, and Business mostly styled as a flashy ’70s-leisure-suit-wearing fast-talker always glued to his phone. The LeBrons is available on Q3030.
ISIS Shoots Down Iraqi Military Helicopter
BAGHDAD (AP) — Militants with Islamic State group on Wednesday shot down an Iraqi military attack helicopter, killing the two pilots on board in the second such incident in a week and raising concerns about the extremists' ability to attack aircraft amid ongoing U.S.-led airstrikes. According to two Iraqi officials, the extremists used a shoulder-fired missile to take down the Bell 407 helicopter, which crashed just north of the refinery town of Beiji, located about 200 kilometers (130 miles) north of Baghdad. The pilot and co-pilot were both killed in the attack, a military aviation official told The Associated Press. A Defense Ministry official confirmed the information. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations. This is the second Iraqi military helicopter shot down by the Islamic State group over Beiji in one week. Militants shot down an Mi-35 helicopter near Beiji on Friday, also killing the pilot and co-pilot in that attack. The two incidents highlight the Islamic State group's ability to counter air operations, potentially putting at risk U.S.-led airstrikes in Iraq and Syria. Some fear the militants may have captured some sophisticated weapons, such as ground-to-air missiles capable of shooting down airplanes when they overran abandoned Iraqi army bases this summer. European airlines including Virgin Atlantic, KLM and Air France, U.S. carrier Delta Air Lines and Dubai-based Emirates changed their commercial flight plans over the summer to avoid the Iraqi airspace.
