Netflix Postponing Bill Cosby Special

By The Hollywood Reporter | Wednesday, November 19, 2014

Netflix is postponing a planned Bill Cosby comedy special as the comedian faces multiple allegations of sexual assault.

“At this time we are postponing the launch of the new stand-up comedy special Bill Cosby 77,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement.
Cosby’s rep characterized it as a mutual decision.

The special was taped on Cosby’s 77th birthday in July, and was slated to hit Netflix on Nov. 28. But old accusations of sexual assault against Cosby have resurfaced in recent months. Cosby has denied the allegations through statements from his reps and attorneys. He was asked about the allegations during an interview over the weekend with NPR’s Scott Simon, but did not respond to the questions.
On Tuesday, a new allegation surfaced, this one from former supermodel Janice Dickinson, who claimed in an Entertainment Tonight interview that Cosby raped her in 1982.
In January, NBC revealed it was reteaming with Cosby for a new comedy series. One of Cosby’s accusers, Barbara Bowman, called the NBC project “irresponsible” in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. NBC declined to comment on her statements at the time.
